On Saturday 14th May, I was joined by 10 volunteers at Caister for the monthly beach clean!
We collected 14.75kg of rubbish plus a lorry tyre which had been on the beach for a good few months!
Thank you to the ice cream man for noticing someone throwing a plastic ring (i.e. death trap) into the Beach Toy Borrow Box. Flying rings have no place at the beach, especially with our local seal population at risk of being necklaced by them if they go into the sea!
It's nice to see the Beach Toy Borrow Box being used as it should... Thank you to those who've added toys to the box, the 'broken' section is being used as intended too. I'd say it's turned out to be a successful and worthwhile project! I've got another one I'm working on at the moment but still awaiting council's permission to be granted for additional locations I can put them...
This beach clean was supporting PADI AWARE Foundation in conjunction with a competition that was run by Scuba Libre to win a Cressi dive computer, where all proceeds went to the PADI AWARE Foundation. The winners of the competition were announced on Scuba Libre Diving Facebook page!
That brings this year's litter total at Caister to 241.75kg!!
This was the 5th of the 'Caister Monthly' beach clean events.
The next Caister Monthly beach clean will be on Saturday 11th June, 10am-12pm, check out Norfolk Beach Cleans Facebook page events section for upcoming beach clean dates to sign up!
As ever, well done to everyone on their efforts! Thank you!
