🌊💙 Beach Clean - Caister Monthly - April 💙🌊

On Saturday 9th April I was joined by 11 volunteers at Caister

(6 at the beginning and another 5 in the last hour).

We collected 30.5kg of rubbish which filled 3 bin bags!

A few odd finds today included: a large 'keep off' sign, rusty milk crate, gas camping stove, radiator airer and a watering can.

That brings this year's litter total at Caister to 227kg!!

This beach clean was supporting PADI AWARE in conjunction with a competition being run by Scuba Libre Diving to win a Cressi dive computer, where all proceeds will go to the PADI AWARE Foundation

Whilst I was there today, a mother and her 2 children came along to the 'Beach Toy Borrow Box' to return a bucket and spades they'd been playing with. It's nice to see it being used how it was intended, and it's only been there a few days. The response I've had from the 'Beach Toy Borrow Box' has been very positive and as long as it doesn't get vandalised or used as a rubbish bin and is used how it's intended that's all I can hope for.

This was the 4th of the 'Caister Monthly' beach clean events.

The next Caister Monthly beach clean will be on Saturday 14th May, 10am-12pm, however check out Norfolk Beach Cleans Facebook page events section for upcoming beach clean dates to sign up so you're aware of any cancellations!

Thank you to the Caister Lifeboat Station for opening up this morning to serve hot drinks to the volunteers.

Thank you also to Lorraine at Great Yarmouth Borough Council Parking Services for granting FREE parking for the beach clean volunteers.

This goes for all future Caister beach cleans this year, just ask me for a parking pass and the enforcement team will know you're there for the beach clean event.

And as always, thank you to GYB Services for collecting the rubbish at the end of the event.

Well done to everyone on your efforts! Thank you!
