We kicked off the 1st of the 'Gorleston Monthly' beach cleans on Sunday 9th January!
I was joined by 26 volunteers, where we collected 4 full bin bags which weighed a total of 34.25kg.
The weather was cold but it was dry and sunny which was a lot more pleasant than yesterday's beach clean!
One of the rubbish sacks was very heavy and was filled entirely with seaweed...? I routed through it and there were only a few bits of plastic... Please only collect unnatural materials!
If you'd noticed part of the beach littered with shredded Ocean Bay amusement arcade tickets... this was done by kids retaliating to being kicked out of the arcade! The bins are locked overnight and the tickets are in strong plastic bags, so not an accident, it was done maliciously.
That brings this year's litter total to around 135.25kg!!
The 'Gorleston Monthly' beach cleans will be on every 1st Sunday of the month - not applicable for June (10am-12pm), check out Norfolk Beach Cleans for upcoming beach clean dates to sign up!
